OPI Can't Let Go

I was very excited to try my first Liquid Sand nail polish. It's been waiting at the untried stash for a while, and finally I had the chance to use it. I wasn't sure about this effect at first, I'm pretty strict about my nail polish finish and I usually like them smooth and shiny. At first I thought it wasn't for me, and that I will pass on this effect, but then these sand style polishes started to pop up everywhere I wend (virtually), and I kinda fell in love with it. I mostly liked them with a top coat, because that way they seemed like they had depth and the glitter looked so nice in them. So finally I decided to try this for myself, and I'm happy I chose this one to begin with.

OPI Can't Let Go was a good surprise. I didn't really know what to expect from a polish with this finish, I actually thought it will be bumpy on application, will have a poor coverage and that the glitter will be hard to place. Oh, how surprised I was! It spread really smoothly and was surprisingly pigmented, even covered the nail really well with just one coat. I used only two coats and that was more than enough. The color was pretty to me, just the kind of purple I like, and the glitter - oh the glitter! It's a mix of medium hex glitters and tiny square glitters in a very pigmented purple base.
Even cleaning around the nail was surprisingly easy. I don't even worry about the removal since I have the nail soakers (which I really recommend, you can find them on ebay for less than $5), which makes the glitter removal easy in 10 minutes.

The thing I wasn't sure I liked is the texture of the nail polish after it dried. It was too rough for me, and I think some of you girls can relate to this feeling. What can I say, my OCD takes over me in times like these, so I decided that it was time to apply a top coat.
Of course I needed more than one coat to smooth it out, so I went for two. The first one sank in pretty fast, but the second coat of Poshe provided a nicely smooth surface. A few hours later I felt that it sank in as well, but this was smooth enough for me, so I didn't apply any more of the top coat.
I think I like it much more with a top coat, it really brings out the color (actually darkens it a bit) and gives an interesting depth to the polish. And as I said before, the smooth and glossy finish is more suitable for me.
I will be defiantly getting more polishes with this finish (and apply lots of top coat on them lol).
What about you? Have you tried any of the Liquid Sandy or crystal style polishes effect?  Did you like this effect? I would love to know what you think.
Thanks for reading! :)

  2. I am the same when it comes to textures! I can't abide feeling my nails snag of fabric or even just feeling them be all rough drives me crazy. I really think it looks stunning with the top coat layers, I think the texture adds some beautiful depth to the look. I might not be so scared to try a few textured polishes now :)

  4. Have just ordered my first liquid sand polish, it's actually this one :p I'm like you though, unsure about the textured finish, but I'll give it a try. This color is just so pretty!

  5. I know what you mean, I feel the same way when it comes to texture polish. Don't know if i quite like it. But I did purchase can't let go and get your number though, mainly because they're beyond gorgeous WITH top coat! I like them without top coat on others, but I don't think I'll be able to wear that rough texture :P But that been said, it looks AMAZING on you! With and without top coat :) And the color suits you so well! (so jelly on your nail shape btw :P)

Pretty swatch with pretty pictures, hun! <3

  7. I do not really understand texture polish. It feels similar to densely packed glitter polish. I will admit I succumbed to the textured polish trend, but like you ended up top coating it. Also like you I did discover it removed really easily and It lasted a really long time without chipping which for me is pretty awesome because almost all nail polish cheap or pricey chips on me.

  8. Great colour, and I tend to prefer a topcoat too. I can't help but pick at it if it's rough!
