Blue Jeans
March 11, 2013
Today's NOTD inspired by Lana Del Rey song Blue Jeans. I wanted to make this design for a while now, so I was happy to try the zipper decals I received from Born Pretty Store to create this design.
To create this design I started with one coat of Barry M Denim which I think is the perfect polish to recreate the Jeans look. The formula was really great and super pigmented so I only needed one coat. the polish dried a bit matte, which actually added to the denim effect. Once it dried, I applied the Zipper water decals which were also very easy and fund to work with (instructions on how to apply them will be posted below). This was my first experience with water decals and I have to admit I really loved it and will be using it again. Once it was all dry, I applied one coat of Poshe.
What I liked about the zipper decals is that they are very thin, and once a top coat is applied, you can't even feel any bumps or anything, the surface is really smooth. Another thing I liked about them is that I wasn't afraid to smear the design as I am with stamping. Application was very easy and fast, and even after using the decals on both hands, I still have some left for another design to be used as accent nails.
Instructions and tips on how to apply water decals:
You will need these tools: Water bowl, scissors, tweezers, tissue paper.
1. Cut the decals and remove the protective film.
2. Place the decals in water for 10 seconds.
3. Once soaked, pull them out of the water with the tweezers, and slide/pull the decal aside from the paper. Use a tweezers to place it on the nail.
4. Press the decal to the nail, use a tissue paper to remove access water and help it dry faster.
5. Once completely dry, apply a top coat.
You can find the Zipper water decals I used for this design on Born
Pretty Store, they are available in two colors: Gold and Silver. Price for a set of 20 decals is $2.99 and shipping is free.
